Directive process analysis explain how to do a thing such as, narrative essay. The other process analysis is informative process analysis. this type explains hoe something is doing by providing information.

Spring break

I hope everyone had a great spring break, I know I did even though I got a massive sunburn.

I can say I really liked the zones of the sea essay we had to read. I am getting my scuba diving certification and we had to learn some things, but what we learned from this essay I didn't know. So I found out more information about that. I am having a little problem understanding how to write a paper for writing analysis by division. I hope to be able to understand better when we can talk face to face next. I seem to get a better understanding that way than on my own.

3-12

On Monday, we had had to write a one page essay on three topics to choose from. I chose the topic about internet. We had 40 minutes to do this essay. For my topic, I had to agree whether internet was a good thing due to it's useful information or a bad thing because it causes problems. I agreed that it was a bad thing because there are many internet-related problems. There is cyber-bullying, which is a huge issue because it leads to self-harming and even suicide. I watched a show about how in Mexico, people are becoming experts with the internet that they can deal drugs through the internet. People can find out where you are, stalk you, and rape/harm you. I agree that Internet makes all of our lives easier, but it also makes crimes more easier to cause too.
We also read an essay about cultural arranged marriages. It was really sad knowing how people still go through that. It must be difficult. I can not imagine myself put in that situation.

March 12, 2012

It was an ordinary today. I almost came in class late.  Dr.Riveria told us to do a midterm essay assignment, it is not difficult but it took me some time to finish. Most of my essay about student should be more participate and interact in class also students should lecture the class material to develop their idea. The limitation of the writing time is 40 minute, but is took me around an hour. I don't understand and impress my classmate can develop their idea son fast and finish the article in the shortest time. After the midterm essay Dr.riveria start lecture us about chapter seven and notices us that she won't able to have a lesson on next two because due to the Philadelphia educational session. She also recommended us study hard because the she is combining the test number 2 and 3 in a meeting which it scare us. Dr.Riveria dismiss us when she finish the chapter seven.

March 12

So today in class we had a midterm assesment. It was very good there was actually a subject of interest. The internet debate. One of my more stronger fields of study. So this debate was one I've been through before. Next was another writers guidelines. Which I'm starting to be more open to as far as comfortability.

monday the 12th

Today in class, we were tasked to write a 40 minute essay on three subjects we chose from. I chose the teacher one, whether or not we like to have them lecture the whole class period of have open discussions. For me, its easier to have an open discussion as a class. The reason for that is because i like to hear everyone's suggestions or input on the topic we might have discussed as a class. Also, in class, we read a essay on arranged marriage, the reading was saddening. I cant live with having no choice on who I can love, or marry. Its bad enough that the writer couldn't chose her religion, which is why she is in an arranged marriage. Dr. Rivera will be going to Philadelphia in April, so we will be having our class meetings in moodle. I' kind of not looking forward to having so many moodle sessions because I really enjoy our face to face time. I like when we go over the sections in the book as a class.

March 12, 2012

In today's class, we met at the computer lab at the English and Communications building. Today we did the midterm assessment and I would have to say that it was fairly simple to write about. Although it took me more than what it was needed to write a one page essay, I would have to say that it is actually harder to write a one page essay than a two page essay, because you have to write the right amount.

3/12/12

Today in class we wrote an essay within a 40 minute time limit. Then we started reading chapter 7 learning more about writing paragraphs and essays. We discussed narration and descriptions in an essay. Descriptive narratives is a way to describe a story using senses such as taste, touch, hear, and smell.
It's really interesting how people use different ways to describe a sense when they describe an action.

Midterm Assessmnt En100

I just completed the midterm assessment given to me by the English Department. I'm not so sure on my efficiency of the essay but what I do know is I did my best and whatever the outcome, I will reflect and build to be better than what I have accomplished. I hope it wasn't too bad.

Midterm Assessment.

Today we became guinea pigs for the first midterm assessment. Dr. Rivera said we were the first class that has done this; I am pretty much use to the idea of being a guinea pig, since I have been one the majority of my life. So this isn't a first for me, not even a first here in Guam. I was used as a guinea pig for the stitches I recieved in my leg after falling. I did choose to write about people either keeping or following a country's customs if they had just moved to a new country. We also have a midterm essay that is due tonight at midnight. I plan to get this in as soon as I get home, since Serena peer reviewed it for me before class today. Since technology hates me and my word processer decided not to work for me all weekend long. I appreciate not having to hand it in as soon as we came to class today so I can do my best in the class without being knocked down by something I can't control. I just know that I told my husband he isn't taking our newest laptop with him when he leaves again so I can avoid this problem.

March 12, 2012

Today we completed a midterm assessment. It consisted of choosing an essay topic and writing a one page paper about it. We were also required to submit our midterm self-reflection essay via email or handed in to her. I enjoyed completing the essay because it allowed me to remember my very first day as a college student. I have grown and learned so much throughout the first half of this semester. I am glad that I am taking this path in life and wanting to pursue my goals. Knowing that we are already in the middle of the semester gives me that extra motivation to stay in college and graduate with a degree. Hopefully it does not take me too long. We also went over the calender of events and made some adjustments. We will not be meeting face to face until April 9 and on that day we will not only make up test number two, but will have test number three. I am pretty intimidated by this thought, but I am sure with all this extra study time I will be able to get the job done and do my best.

Midterm

I can't believe that we have hit midterm. It hasn't felt like it has been that long. I'm not sure about anyone else but I am freaking out a little bit about it, but I'm excited all the same. It just means I'm getting that much closer to my goal. Now to make sure I pass the class and all of my other classes to reach my goal. I know that with this class I will have a better chance of reaching my goal. I hope you all  feel the same way.

3/7

Today we had an online moodle session. We had to discuss the importance in descriptive narration. It is very important in our lives because it would be difficult to tell a story without one. There are movies, tv shows, plays, and books that need descriptive narration. You can't read a book without descriptive narration. I mean you can, but it would be difficult, and it would not make sense.Narration moves through time and description moves through space They are both connected. There are types of descriptions, for example: subject description, objective description, and emotion description.

3/7/12

Today, it was another moodleroom session. We are in chapter 7, "Descriptive Narration: Moving Through Space and Time." In this chapter, I read about the meaning of a descriptive narrative and its use in the context of writing. There are five narrative patterns: situation, conflict, struggle, outcome, and meaning. In the book, it states that description and narration are almost always associated with each other. Learning more about descriptive narration, I realized that we always use it in our daily lives.

March 7, 2012

Today we had the moodle online class. in today's lesson we should learn about the description narration. A narration moves through time and a description moves through space. There are some types of description such as, objective description, subject description and emotion description. The objective description is describe an object is more specific and detail. For an example, the chip internal the computer or the renovation manufacturing facility. The subjective description is more about the view of the person or people's opinion, therefore it convoy the feeling about the subjective or the mood while the subject making the point. Sometimes we call subjective description as the emotional description because the embrace many the feeling and emotional touch. In additional, description passages sometimes has combine objective and subject description, however it will only occur in the large content of the text.

Descriptive Narration

After reading what a descriptive narration is all about I am able to say that I have done many of those throughout my school life. From essays to journals, I was always assigned to write about a life changing experience, why I chose to do this, my most memorable that, etc. I completely agree when the text states that a narrative and description are always associated. I cannot even imagine how difficult it would be to tell a story and not describe something or give a description without telling a story. I think that descriptive narrations are totally necessary in life.

Student Demonstration of All Stages of the Writing Process

In our readings, the student Leah was able to use the worksheet as a guideline in order to write her essay in an organized fashion. She seemed to make good use of the clustering part of the worksheet. There were many ideas that branched out from the main topic. I also saw that she made many corrections during the editing process of stage three. Overall, I think it is very helpful and useful to use an organized worksheet such as this in order to come up with an excellent essay.

March 5th

Today we read an essay by Leah on "Prison Sweat Lodge". This essay again went through the 3 stages of writing. She free wrote, brainstormed, clustered, and listed all of her ideas. Following this she began to outline and organize her essay. She then wrote her draft essay and then edited it with CLUESS and COPS, after she finished this stage she was capable of completing her essay. I hope some one can fill me in on what we did after this so I can catch up to you all and if we had homework.  Thanks guys!

05MAR12

Today we in class we went over chapter 6 Writing Process Worksheet. We read an essay from Leah a prison inmate from California, in which she used the 3 stages freewriting, brainstorming and clustering. In stage 2 she wrote an outline for organization and in stage 3 she demonstrated the use of CLUESS and COPS. We also received our test scores and I was really excited when I found out that I passed. Dr. Rivera went over the test and at the same time I corrected my mistakes.

March 5,2012

Today Dr. Rivera released our test grade and I am kind of shocked. we viewed some sample essay, such as Leah's essay. Leah is an inmate in California. She demonstrated the writing process that includes three writing stages. First, she used free-writing where she wrote without stopping and letting her ideas tumble forward. In brainstorming, Leah used the big six questions to make her essay more complete such as, who, what, where, when, why and when. Secondly, organization is big part of the essay. Her organization of the paragraph is perfect. Her essay is a good sample for all students.

March 05, 2012

Today in class, we got our tests back and I have to say I could have done better. I think everyone says that about their test grades whether it's good or bad. We also discussed, the Writing Process Worksheet which is a format that helps you put an essay together with the correct process. It includes the three stages that we've learned earlier on in class. I believe that it is important to have a format ready to help you out on an essay over just going for it hoping for the best to come out of it. So, we got to try out the writing process worksheet and I have set my mind to always use this process when I need to write an essay. It really helped me break down my material and how to format it. Dividing all stages, written, really helps you when you have the urge to wanting to get it all right.

3/5/12

Today in class, we read chapter 6, writing the essay. We read about the 3 stages to writing an essay which consist of stage 1, brainstorming/free writing, stage 2, organizing, stage 3, writing the essay making final corrections. Then, we did exercise 2 on pg. 95 which was we had to pick a theses and write a an essay using the writing process, at least reaching stage 3.

3/5

Today in class, we received our 1st test scores. I passed with an A which I am highly proud about. The extra credit helped out. Without the extra credit, I would've gotten a lower grade. We went over student demonstration of the writing process. We also read about the Writing process worksheet, which shows the writing process and the steps. Leah did freewriting, brainstorming, and clustering to get her started. Next, she did stage 2 in which she wrote an outline for organization. Lastly, she demonstrated stage 3, using CLUESS and COPS.

3/05

Today we continued the "Student Demonstration of all Stages of the Writing Process". The text provided an example using Leah's essay on "Prison Sweat Lodge". This section discussed and demonstrated the three stages of the Writing Process. In stage 1, Leah free wrote, brainstormed using the six big questions, listing, and clustering all her ideas for the essay. Stage 2, she began to organize it by creating an outline. Stage 3, Leah revised and edited her essay using "CLUESS", "COPS", and making annotations on the side. After completing all three stages, Leah was able to finish her final draft.

Writing Process 03-05-2012

Class was  concentrated onto the Writing Process Worksheet with Three stages to break down all the parts of The Writing Process on how to write and revise a good and strong paragraph or essay. There was also an example: "Razor Wire Sweat Lodge." It was an essay and consisted of a first and final draft. It broke down the essay into parts and what is needed to make a good essay. Page 89-95. Should make good use of this information.

It's Monday, yay

Today is Monday, the 5th of March. I'm glad we had class today, because I was anxious to see what I scored on our first test. Anyways, in class today, we went over all the stages of the writing process. I knew all three stages were very vital for a successful paper, but today when we went over it I came to a full understanding. The student demonstration of all the stages really helped, I wish that I could re-take our test. The writing process worksheet looks easy enough to remember. Dr. Rivera copies for us, just in-case. Free writing is part of stage one and that's is writing without stopping. I tend to do that for majority of my rough drafts. An important part of stage two is writing  topic sentence or thesis that will catch your readers eye. Last but not least, the third stage is revising your draft. It makes a lot more sense when you do each step thoroughly.

3/5/2012

Today in class, we went over the Student demonstration of all stages of the writing process. The writing process worksheet consisted of stages one, two, and three. For stage one, it was about freewriting. First, Leah started freewriting, and then she underlined the important aspects of the subject she wrote on. In stage two, after freewriting, brainstorming, and clustering, Leah was ready to focus on one aspect of her larger topics and write the essay. Stage three is to write the essay while using the help from CLUESS, and COPS.

2/29

We had a moodle session on the 29th of february. The topic was about an essay. An essay consists of paragraphs, each supporting the controlling idea called thesis. The four main parts of the essay include: Introduction, Development, Transition, and Conclusion. Introduction states the controlling idea in a paragraph form. Development gives reasoning, support, and evidence. Transition highlights divisions of the essay. Conclusion concludes an ending, usually a restatement or reflection of the thesis.
