Class day 2

Today we covered the Modern Language Association. Luis, went up and demonstrated how this is written out. I have never heard of this before and I was excited to learn something new and interesting that will help me progress on in my College career. Luis also demonstrated what an air guitar was, I think he could have rocked the guitar a little more but he did a great job in what he did. We did read an essay that touched close to me about a Chinese- American girl that wanted to be an "All American Girl". I felt for her in not wanting to learn the Chinese aspect of her life, but it made me sad that she didn't what to as well. Its just a sad thought that some people don't want to learn about their heritage. Heritage is a wonderful thing I believe you can learn so much about yourself and your family history.

  1. I've learned about MLA in high school and still haven't mastered it. I hope to do so this semester! The air guitar demonstration was great. It made everyone laugh and brightened up the mood. The essay touched me as well. I thought it was a shame that she did not want to know the other part of who she was. I believe that culture is something very special, especially on our island.

    1. He was good, we need more ice breakers in the class. Everyone seems so shy, it makes me look like I'm the most social one there. Well I don't know much about the culture on this island I hope to learn more about it before we leave island permanently. It seems very interesting, but all cultures seem interesting in their own way.

  2. It was my first time hearing about the MLA too and I'm happy to say that I've learned something new. It was pretty funny when Luis demonstrated the air guitar and I agree he could have rocked out more, but he did it and did a good job. That essay touched me too because I can sort of relate, but instead of not liking my culture I want to incorporate it more into my life. Growing up I was raised in an Americanized environment and I never was taught how to speak my language.

    1. I can say I would love to learn about my heritage but its hard since I have to start from the beginning. I have very little to no information about it. Since I was raised to just be myself none of the whole well you are this and this. Which makes me sad, since we have forgotten what we are and lost our past just to be American. I plan on, when we get back to the states, to get with my mother in-law and find out more information about my family history.
